Your video will begin in The Bar Muscle Up Posted on Sat, 24 January 2015 in Muscle-Up Videos by Wodnation 430 Views 0 0 We’re going to talk about bar muscle up. First we’re going to demonstrate what it looks like. And then we can talk about a few different things that we use to get it down and use it. (Demonstration of Bar Muscle Up) So just like the other muscle up, we’re taking our body from the fore section to bottom to up and over an object. Normally we use rings, but another application can be a standard barbel or a pull bar which can resemble a fence or whatever it may be. Let’s talk about a few different things. First off, if you’re going to jump on a pull bar, you want it to be on your finger tips. The problem with that is it increases the range of motional lever for getting up and over that bar. So we’re going to encourage you athletes to do is just like in a regular muscle up, we encourage to have a false grip where the ring is here. In the muscle up in that pull bar, we’re going to encourage you to have it in the meat of your palm. He’s going to be in that hanging position there. He’s going to be up and over and his grip would be on his finger tips. That’s going to help him. Once he gets here, he’s going to transition over. If it’s on his fingertips, he has more of a chance of slipping out. So what do we recommend? Again, so more of the meat of the palm on that barbell. Something else we talk about ways to develop it is first chest to the bar, once your chest to the bar has become comfortable, you're going chest to hip and chest to the bar now. You’re simply one step away from rotating that over, making fast elbows. Again, he works that big kick. Watch that kick. He’s going to drive that. Boom! Flips those elbows over, hits that catch position, presses out. So, focus points. Have that barbell on the palm, have that nice, big kick. Develop that. The ways to develop that is to start with the chest to the bar, that abdomen on the bar, finally when you’re in that position flip those arms over fast, and then press out. When doing more than one in a row, try to maintain that position on that bar with that meat on that palm to make it much easier.
