Your video will begin in Chris Spealler teaches Squat Therapy Posted on Sun, 12 April 2015 in Squat Videos by Wodnation 972 Views 0 0 Hi! We’re going to take Mark here and work on the squat there. Mark has some great things going for his squat but he has some places to improve. So let’s just take a look at Mark’s squat. Go ahead and squat for us, Mark. Back up. So we've got some good things going on. We’ve got depth, we’ve got his heels, and generally and his knees tracking with his toes, but he does have less lumbar curve. So we’re going to help him with that. First thing is to establish a box height. So we’ve got a box over here to squat to and maintain a lumbar curve. I want you to squat down to that height. Back up. Nice and steady. So I’m going to lower the box height. Go. Back up. Good. So again Mark has a little bit of a knees forward squat. And that’s okay. So Mark try not to let your knees go forward. Go ahead and squat. Much better. So again I’m still waiting for Mark to have that nice arch in his back. So I’m going to lower it again. Now Mark you can put your hands against the wall. We’re going to get the depth. Knees tracking against your toes, Mark. And also weight on your heels. Put your hands against the wall. Now the wall is going to force his chest forward. Sit down again for me, Mark. Now you’re going to see if you take a closer look. Now Mark try to wiggle your toes as you squat down. Nice and slow. Back up. A lot of times we want to move fast. So Mark, slow down. Cut your speed in half. Good ahead. Yeah. Back up. You got that little problem you start to see there. As you are able to reach the depth and maintain all points of performance without falling on the box, start to move closer to the wall. So Mark’s squat is still a little high. So we’re going to keep this position against the wall here. Mark, we are just going to lower the box height. So let’s work from here. I really want you to reach down and back. Now we’re going to get Mark down below parallel at this distance from the wall. Nice and slow, Mark. There you go. Good. So move your hips back. Back. There you go. Again, you can see how these things come down - he’s going to wiggle his toes and things like that. Now I’m really going to force him to get below parallel. So the same thing, Mark. The lower we go, the more Mark is going to have the urge to fall. There you go. Resist that urge to fall. Just tap the box and stand back up. If you do fall, that’s okay. The battle begins again and work for all the points of performance until you can eventually squat with toes against the wall.
